Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina is a fascinating city to visit with an interesting history and culture that is, in part, influenced by the Ottoman Empire. One of the most obvious examples of this are the number of tea houses that are dotted around the city.
Our favourite tea house is undoubtedly Čajdžinica Džirlo, which is located just off the main square in Sarajevo. The location is perfect for spending a couple of lazy hours people-watching while sipping on a cup of tea or strong Turkish coffee and possibly following the lead of the locals and enjoying some shisha.
The owner, Hossein, who has an uncanny resemblance to Albus Dumbledore, is the perfect host and will give you a number of recommendations if you're unsure which of the many drinks to try!
This is definitely one of our favourite spots in the city and a highlight if you're visiting Sarajevo!
