Mile End has two great rivalries: bagels and coffee. People have been known to hinge their identity on whether they like Fairmount or St-Viateur bagels, and whether they enjoy their morning latte at Café Olimpico or Club Social. Literally a block away from each other on happening Rue Saint-Viateur, both these cafés are on the southwestern corner of their block, both have nice terraces in the summer, and both used to be European men’s clubs before the hipsters took over. As a newcomer, you have the benefit of doing a taste test to deciding without prejudice which serves the espresso to your taste.
