Cafe Dulce does amazing Japanese style donuts in Little Tokyo, Downtown LA. It is in the centre of Little Tokyo, surrounded by lots of Japanese shops and restaurants, as well as a Japanese grocery store. The area is a short walk from Chinatown and the Arts District also.
I am a wanderer. And like all the other times I've traveled, I had no plans (and no clue). While wandering around Little Tokyo in L.A. (which is awesome by the way), I came across a little cafe that, thank God, was not Starbucks. At Cafe Dulce, I came across man's most awesome creation: the bacon doughnut. Freshly baked, honey-glazed, and topped with bits of bacon—it was so good that I wished I could have kissed the baker. Not to mention this place serves one of the best espressos I have ever tried. Even the water chaser was carbonated to perfection. If this were my only experience in L.A., it would have made the trip worthwhile. PS: They also make a fruity pebbles donuts. My life will not be complete till I try it. I've got to get back to L.A.
