Café du Monde
Given its location near the waterfront, it is perhaps fitting that Café du Monde, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, specializes in seafood dishes—salmon tartare, crab cakes, and fish and chips are some of its best-known dishes. Despite the fact that your table comes with a view of the St. Lawrence River, however, the onion soup, excellent steak frites, and
pot au chocolat may convince you that you have somehow been transported to the banks of the Seine. The restaurant is popular every season of the year, but on warm summer days when there is a breeze off the water, the tables on its terrace are among the most coveted in the city.
