Egg Coffee in Hanoi
Cafe Dinh is purportedly the original home of the egg coffee. It’s located upstairs from one of the many shops in Hanoi
selling knockoff hiking gear. The entrance is hidden, but if you walk into the shop, proceed past the racks of backpacks, boots, and jackets and take the stairs up to the top floor you’ll be greeted by a filled room of locals. Order an egg coffee and be prepared for a wait and a show. This is the only place in Hanoi that still makes each egg coffee to order, whipping each and every egg into a beautiful velvety meringue that is then used to top a freshly pulled cup of coffee. If you get there early, there’s a chance you might be able to snag a balcony seat for a view of the lake.
