Café de L'Archevêché

Sit Back, Relax, and People Watch
This café, settled in the best people-watching location on Rue Gaston de Saporta, is absolutely my favorite place in Aix, maybe even the world. Get there early on a weekday morning, as their outdoor seating makes for an amazing place to watch the city wake up. It’s less than 100 feet from the Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur d'Aix and just down the street from the Thermes Sextius. The coffee can be a little pricey if you’re getting multiple cups (as I tend to do), but it's SO worth it and you’re not going to find a better place in Aix to enjoy it. Bonus: as French culture goes, you can sit there as long as you please without being bothered with a check.
This café is unsurprisingly a favorite of the Aixoise, but you will also find that it is a favorite of many of the American students attending universities in the city; if you are looking for a fellow English-speaker that will surely have some great local recommendations, just sit here and listen for a while.
