Across from the Agios Therapon church, the Byzantine Museum houses a collection that once belonged to Archbishop Iakovos of Mitilíni (and later, Archbishop of America's Greek Orthodox church). Many of the pieces date to the 13th century and came from abandoned or ruined churches around the island. Archbishop Iakovos was an enthusiastic collector and unearthed most of the treasures himself. There are also antique manuscripts, vestments and sacred vessels on display. Admission is just two euros.
