Bygdøy Peninsula Museums
Interested in Norway’s Viking and nautical past? The three museums on the Bygdøy peninsula will provide a fascinating day. Marvel at the Viking Ship Museum’s meticulously preserved boats. Then, seek out colder climes at the Fram Museum, which is dedicated to the 19th-century polar expedition ship Fram used by explorers Fridtjof Nansen (Arctic Ocean), Otto Sverdrup (Greenland) and Roald Amundsen (Antarctica). Finally, at the Kon-Tiki Museum, take in the exploits of Thor Heyerdahl, who crossed the Pacific on the balsa-wood Kon-Tiki in 1947.
