World's Largest Horse Ankle Bone in Macklin, Saskatchewan
Macklin, Saskatchewan a small town just east of the Alberta/Saskatchewan border, lays claim to the world's largest horse ankle bone.
Sounds odd, and it is, but this 32 foot tall horse ankle bone replica is actually in recognition of a popular game called Bunnock (bone in Russian). Originally started in Siberia Bunnock is a game that's similar to curling and bowling. While horse ankle bones were used to play Bunnock today the game uses plastic pieces instead. Macklin hosts the World Bunnock championships each year, and has this giant bunnock statue of a horse ankle to welcome visitors to their small town.
