Bryce Canyon National Park
This national park is centered along the spine plateau above Bryce Canyon which drops away to the east from the main park road. Along the road are numerous pullouts to access the vistas looking down into the canyon which contains square miles of awe-inspiring sandstone hoodoo spires below. These rock formations have taken on shapes to inspire names like Sinking Ship, Bristlecone Point, Swamp Canyon Butte, and at the far south end where the park road terminates, Rainbow Point for the range of colors of the rocks near and far into the Grand Staircase National Monument. Get beyond the crowds and hike the many trails that drop into the canyon or stay a while and pick up a backcountry permit. It’s particularly stunning in the winter covered in snow.
