From Katerina to Peter
When I was in St. Petersburg, Russia, I stopped by this amazing monument dedicated to Tsar Peter the Great who founded St. Petersburg and built the wooden city in a malarial swamp. The inscription reads "From Catherine to Peter", as Catherine the Great commissioned this during her notorious rule. The man who sculpted it fretted over how to make it stand with the weight balanced on such small points...an amazing history and imposing statue not to be missed!
