Stretch your sea legs by taking a walk or cycle through the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. The park has two locations: The first is a triangle of greenery in the city, with lush bamboo groves, ornamental ponds and weeping willows. It's set on a spot that juts into the Brisbane River across from South Bank, the arts-and-recreation district. If you're feeling active, you can bike five kilometers (three miles) west along the river to reach the park's second location, on Mount Coot-tha. The 56 hectares (138 acres) of subtropical gardens here are arranged in thematic and geographical displays. A geodesic dome shelters tropical plants, and there's also a memorial dedicated to promoters of peace and freedom in the Pacific.
