In Mendocino's Brewery Gulch Inn, the Osprey room (upstairs, southwest corner) commands a view, across Highway 1, of Smuggler's Cove and the Pacific Ocean. The eco-conscious inn occupies a sweet location, away from the road and just a minute or two from the village of Mendocino. The 10 rooms and one suite come with made-to-order breakfast and a nightly wine hour and "light supper" buffet in a spacious lodge-like "great room" with a giant wood stove.

Great B&B Breakfast on the North Coast
Food matters to Guy Pacurar, who became a first-time innkeeper when he bought Brewery Gulch in 2007. The breakfast menu includes one of the best brisket hashes I've ever tasted, with perfectly poached eggs, as well as "millionaire's bacon" (with maple and chile pepper flakes), omelets, and pancakes. And the morning and evening pastries and baked goods are spectacular.
