When planning my trip to Prague I was looking for a hotel that had a good, central location from which I could easily walk to many of the city's points of interest. It was then that I happened upon the Boat Hotel Matylda!
Floating on the Vltava River between the National Theater & the Nationale-Nederlanden building (The Dancing House), Matylda & her sister boat Klotylda offer 25 rooms ranging from single to junior suite. I was sold!
I arrived at the hotel early in the morning & was greeted by a cheerful young man named David. He completed my registration quickly & showed me to my room on the Klotylda.
Room 11, that was mine & while the room (a Superior Double) was small it was perfect for me alone. Dark paneling & cream colored paint lent warmth to the room along with dark wood furniture, a thick rug & bronze organdy curtains that framed the sliding back doors which offered a view of the river. The adjoining bathroom was small but more than sufficient & the contemporary fixtures were an interesting contrast to the old-world feel of the room.
The Matylda houses an amazing restaurant as well! Each morning, after being greeted at my back door by swans, I enjoyed a complimentary breakfast buffet & the one lunch & one dinner I had here during my stay were delicious & flavorful! Don't miss the wine: Ryzlink Vlašský Vinarstvi-Mikrosvin-Mikulov!!!
Matylda is certainly a new twist on lodgings which I will gladly partake in again on my next visit to Prague!
