The Annual Infiorata of Bolsena
Each year to celebrate Corpus Christi, young and old gather in the middle of town to create intricate flower tapestries that run for 3km. The Infiorata pays homage to the 'Miracle of Bolsena' that occurred in 1263. A Bohemian priest with doubts about Christ's presence in the Eucharist went to Rome
to pray at the tomb of St. Peter. Faith renewed, he stopped to celebrate mass at the Church of Santa Cristina. During the liturgy of the Eucharist, the Host literally turned into flesh and bled. And so began the Feast of Corpus Christi in all of Christendom.
