Bogor Botanical Gardens
Indonesia's most all-encompassing and impressive botanical garden is located about 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of Jakarta's city center and was founded by the Dutch in 1817. Its 87 lush hectares (215 acres) provide a green lung to this city's smoggy sprawl. Stroll the gardens, ponds and lawns, home to over 500 orchid species and all sorts of unusual tropical plants and flowers from across Indonesia that are protected on conservation lists. The café on-site does a decent lunch.
