The best part about Toronto is that you can feel like you're in another city just by traveling to another neighborhood.
The boardwalk in the Beaches neighborhood is one of those places. Over 4 km of boardwalk stretches along the lake, just south of Queen Street East. It is one of the places I frequent if I need to destress and an ideal spot to walk, run or dog/people watch.
Highlights along the way include the Olympic swimming pool, unleashed dog park near the eastern end of the boardwalk, the volleyball tournaments near Coxwell and the rocks past Ashbridge's Bay (complete with a phenomenal view of the CN Tower if you walk to the end of Ashbridges Bay). If you're hungry, there have been updates to the non-existent restaurant scene in the Beach. Trinity Taverna is an upscale yet casual place to have healthy Greek food; Athens opened up their second outpost if you're craving a Spinach or cheese pie.
