This 19th-century shopping arcade is jaw-droppingly beautiful, with mosaic-tile flooring, majestic decorative arches and a glass-canopied ceiling. It’s filled with interesting boutiques and cafés, including the Hopetoun Tea Rooms, with its famous high tea and fabulous window displays, and Haigh's Chocolates, one of Australia's premier chocolatiers.

Chocolate & Glass Ceilings
Last night I did one of my favourite things. I got in the bath and bit the head off a chicken. A Haigh’s chocolate chicken, no less. Gifted to me by myself while in Melbourne over Easter. Bubble baths and chocolate go together like garlic and basil, strawberries and cream, Kate and Wills.
I hopped off the tram in Collins Street (all inner-city trams are free) and entered the beautiful nineteenth-century Block Arcade. Autumn light streamed through the stunning etched-glass ceiling softly illumining the original timber shop-fronts and largest mosaic floor in Australia. Then I saw Haigh’s and the rest is bubbly history.
