The oysters hold court as a mainstay starter with a supporting cast that includes crab cocktails, chowders, classic fish & chips, and local seafood favorites like salmon and halibut. The surroundings have the trappings of a small coastal cafe, but when the grilled octopus salad reaches your table, you realize you’re onto something special. The bar has the usual suspects on the shelves with NW wines and beers to complement any menu selection. Block & Tackle is part of the creative culinary frontier out on SE Division. Kind of the wild east of the Portland eats scene, but worth the trek to experience. Happy hour is a great intro to the offerings if you’re on a neighborhood food cruise, so do stop in.
