Find the Good Life
This Art Nouveau castle on the vast plains near Vara i Västergötland was built 1911-1914. Knut Henrik Littorin was a wealthy businessman who commissioned the most renowned architect of the time, Ferdinand Boberg, to build his family a new home. Ferdinand Boberg was used to more official projects, like the Swedish Parliament Rosenbad, but accepted when he was promised free reign – including the interior decorations. Today the castle is a hotel and restaurant serving fresh-caught char from nearby lakes and the local hard cheese. Go hunting, play a set of pool or enjoy a drink on the terrace overlooking the park.
