The Bixby Creek Bridge is a well-known site in Big Sur and said to be one of the most photographed bridges along the Pacific Coast Highway - not just because of its own good looks, but the surrounding beauty of Big Sur. And with a turnoff conveniently located just before you crossover, It just sort of begs to have its picture taken.
Constructed of reinforced concrete, Bixby is what's known as a open-spandrel arch bridge. It opened in 1932 and is still one of the tallest concrete bridges of its kind in the world.
