The Finest Flora in the Magic City
The Birmingham Botanical Gardens is, without a doubt, one of the most loved and visited places in the entire city. Most locals consider the Japanese Garden and its bright red bridge spanning the koi-filled pond to be the highlight. In addition the tea house was built using traditional Japanese methods and features a raked Zen garden. It’s no surprise the garden has been declared a Japanese Cultural Center by the Japanese government.
Any given day you will find mothers strolling with their children, college students studying, school kids enjoying field trips, and photographers capturing the season all around the Botanical Gardens. There are dozens of places around the grounds to enjoy nature: numerous walking paths, original artworks, sculptures, a large greenhouse, and shady trees. Also visit the Rose Gardens which boast a truly spectacular array of many species.
Its location is convenient to wherever you are in city, so it’s the perfect place to unwind and experience the quieter side of Birmingham.
