With an aerial view of Big Sur, California one can truly appreciate the topography of the area famous for it's coastal cliffs and ocean view drives. This spot is perfect for anyone (especially us mountain-meets-water deprived East coasters!) looking for a secluded, hike-in spot. You can set up your tent several feet from the cliffs, it's the only oceanside site! I highly recommend stopping at Nepenthe, a restaurant about 45 minutes north. Guaranteed beauty, people-watching and sunshine. It's best to fly into Monterey, rent a car, and enjoy the drive.
