Waiting for our City Nightliner departure from Berlin turned out to be every bit as comfortable as the ride itself.
We connected to the internet via a T-Mobile Hot Spot, and enjoyed a complimentary drink and a sandwich served at our seats. Coffee and tea, wine, beer and other beverages, are all available. With newspapers and friendly staff to provide updated travel information and departure times, the lounge is an oasis in the bustling station.
The comfy first class waiting room at Berlin's Hauptbahnhof is just one of the new DB Lounges recently implemented (the others are in Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt/Main). The lounges are open to passengers with valid DB 1st class rail tickets, as well as members of Deutsche Bahn's loyalty program, 'bahn.bonus.comfort'. A sign at the entrance of the Berlin station also offered the possibility to use the lounge for a nominal fee.
The DB Lounge is a great way to begin or break a long-distance train journey through Berlin!
