Museu Colecçao Berardo
collection is now wonderfully housed in Belém as the centerpiece attraction at the massive Centro Cultural de Belém. The collection, showcasing 70 artistic tendencies and more than 900 works, is the personal booty of wealthy Portuguese businessman José Berardo, who has amassed a jaw-dropping, inspiring abstract, surrealist, hyperrealism, minimalism and pop art potpourri valued at €316 million by Christie's. Original creations from the likes of Warhol, Basquiat, Lichtenstein, Hockney, Dali and Pollack are must-see's among the heavily American and European artworks, but surprises lurk at every turn throughout the galleries - which count as one of the world’s largest collections of modern and contemporary art. Though previously free, a €5 was introduced in 2017 (though it remains free on Saturdays).
