Bedouin Garden Village

The Red Sea is prime scuba diving and snorkelling territory, and Aqaba has plenty of diving operators ready to get you beneath the waves. Bedouin Garden Village, on the highway just south of the city is one of the most experienced outfits.

If you've never dived before, this is the perfect place, as you can swim out from the beach with your instructor and quickly be taking your first strokes over the shallow reefs near the shore.

More experienced divers will want to take the boat further afield. There are many world-class dive sites along the coast. Cedar Pride is the most famous wreck, a ship deliberately scuttled to become a dive site more than 30 years ago in the Aqaba Marine Park, and now encrusted with corals and home to a rich variety of fish life. Nearby, the equally celebrated Rainbow Reef and Japanese Garden sites. Both have spectacular coral, with the latter offering good accessibility if all you want to do it snorkel.
