The Perfect Pairing
During a trip to France to learn more about the Viogner grape, the owners of the much-respected Becker Vineyards felt at home in Provence, where the sandy granite soils and summers reminded them of the Texas Hill Country. Inspired by that trip, the fields of their vineyards are not only filled with taught-skinned grapes, but also with aromatic rows of lavender that bloom in April and May. Homemade lavender products, such as soaps, candles, and seasonings, fill the tasting room, and Becker Vineyards hosts its own Lavender Festival each May, with speakers, cooking demonstrations and, of course, wine tastings. It's become a popular Hill Country weekend getaway to add to your list.
