Drive the Ring of Beara
Instead of the Ring Of Kerry, take the scenic driving route around the less busy Beara Peninsula in County Cork, taking the road from Glengarriff to Dursey Sound and then back to Kenmare in County Kerry. Take your time - there are plenty of beaches, harbors and coves, plus forests and mountain trails to stop off at along the way. History buffs will love the ancient stone circles, cairns and burial grounds.
From here, you can also take a ferry over to Bere Island (from Castletownbere) or take the quirky cable car over to the tree-less Dursey Island, for walking trails and amazing Atlantic views.
