Should you visit Mar Del Plata (Mardel) Argentina at the height of summer, the crowded beaches may seem initially overwhelming. Though vast and scenic, they may not be the most pristine beaches you've enjoyed, but what they are, you won't soon forget.
Diversity abounds and the action on the beaches and nearby streets is brimming with excitement. There is an "electricity" present, as the daily beach dwellers savor every aspect of fun in the sun and sand... It's really quite wonderful.
You can also traverse along the coastal edge to discover the vast shipping and fishing ports and learn much about local history. And of course, the food, specifically the seafood is amazing, as is the wine.... If you're lucky and time it just right, you may see a full moon "rise" and emerge like a great illuminated orb from the sea's horizon. It was the first and only time I experienced this and it was spectacular!
