Visitors to Philadelphia, especially those with kids, should consider a day trip to Camden, just across the Delaware River from Philly’s Penn’s Landing waterfront. Easily accessible via the RiverLink ferry, Camden is home to the battleship USS New Jersey, now a floating museum. Also known as “BB62”, the New Jersey is America's most decorated battleship, now open for tours and overnight encampments. Touring the New Jersey is one of the region’s most popular attractions. Another popular attraction in Camden is the Adventure Aquarium, on the waterfront not far from the battleship. The aquarium boasts nearly 200,000 square feet of sea life and wildlife. A just-announced addition planned for the aquarium is a 300-foot high observation tower, scheduled to open in the spring of 2015.
Another Camden attraction, Wiggins Park, is a lovely riverfront promenade located between the battleship and the aquarium, with views of the Philadelphia skyline and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. The park hosts numerous music and other festivals during the warm weather months.
