Field Marshall Blücher, the commander of the Prussian forces did suggest this name to the Duke of Wellington as an appropriate one for the name of the battle, but being an arrogant Brit, the Duke said that it would be named the Battle of Waterloo, since his HQ was located there. Waterloo is several miles from the battlefield.
