Each year since 1983, the Cayman Islands have celebrated Batabano, the islands' version of Mardi Gras. The week-long cultural event is named for the tracks a turtle makes when it comes ashore to nest. Finding the tracks gives islands cause to celebrate.
Today, Batabano festivities typically include parades, dancing, mask parties, and, of course, live calypso and soca music. There is always at least one day designated for family-friendly activities and attractions intended specifically for the enjoyment of kids.
