We came into Venice from the sea which is the way to see a city that is so influenced by the waters that surround and flow through it. As you can see from the picture that weather was perfect. We went in mid October and it was still in the 60s-70s. The crowds at this time were much lighter than during the high season and one of the shop keepers told us it was the best time to see Venice...he said he enjoyed this time because he actually got to speak with visitors to his shop....

Tango on the Steps of the Santa Maria della Salute

It’s true. Once a month, Argentinian Tango invades the steps of the Santa Maria della Salute basilica in Venice, with the moon flooding the scene where people gancho and volcada to their heart’s content. There is nothing like coming upon this scene unawares, as I did a few years back, to see maybe twenty couples dance across the marble terrace in front of this amazing domed church that has become an emblem of the city. It certainly revived my interest in this beautiful erotic dance...
