Basilica and Cloister of Sant Francesc
The convent of Sant Francesc is a jewel missed by many visitors, tucked away as it is on a square in a quiet part of the old town. A divinely beautiful Gothic cloister lies behind the basilica’s newer, imposing Baroque facade, which was added after the church was hit by lightning in the 17th century. The simple tomb of Ramon Llull (1232-1315), the Mallorcan mystic, missionary, monk, theologian, alchemist and writer, stands in a side chapel of the church.
