Despite living in the Lower East Side when I first moved to the city, it took a seasoned foodie to introduce me to Barrio Chino, one of the best Mexican restaurants in Manhattan. The name makes perfect sense too because Chinatown is only a few blocks away.
Due to its small space and its large popularity, it’s often difficult to snag a table. I now live one block away and Barrio Chino is crowded almost around the clock, especially during Happy Hour and weekend brunch.
It’s well worth the wait though and even if you are only there for drinks, make sure to order the guacamole & chips because they are baked in-house.
To get to Barrio Chino, located at 253 Broome Street between Ludlow and Orchard streets, take the F, M or J to Delancey/Essex streets or the B, D to Grand Street.
