For the people of the Patagonian steppe, horseback has long been their principal means of transportation. On Overseas Adventure Travel's Chile & Argentina: Andes to Patagonia trip, you'll mount a horse and ride in the open country at the foothills of the Andes—just as gauchos, Argentinian cowboys, have for centuries. We'll also make authentic cultural connections with a family near Bariloche, when they welcome us to their estancia, or estate, for a lamb barbecue. We'll be given tips on navigating this diverse terrain before setting off on our horses. The native criollo horses were born and broken here and are uniquely adapted to this wild landscape. An encounter with nature on the back of your equine traveling companion is one you won't soon forget.
