The Mediterranean port side city, and capital of Puglia, is Bari. It is a place of diverse 'Adriatic' influence. Roman, Greek, and Ottoman influences are obvious at every turn. It is a fort city, built strongly on the sea. There are cathedrals everywhere, including the final resting place of St.Nicholas. For the foodie, the seafood is as good as it gets, but make no mistake this is a busy place, traffic on the fringe is hectic. Get to the seawall, explore it, but heading too far into the city will leave your head spinning.
