Vermouth is that drink which most guide books will completely miss in their recommendations for Barcelona. Sweet, strong and spicy, it's a staple in many bars in the city. Bar Mingus, a hole-in-the-wall tucked into the recesses of the Gothic Quarter's winding walkways, serves up a darn good vermouth at really good prices. Order a 'vermut de la casa' an you'll get the house vermouth mixed with carbonated water (sifon), a couple of giant ice cubes and a slice of orange peel. The bar also features about 10 beers from local and regional breweries, one of which is always on sale.
