Bar do Mineiro
99 Rua Paschoal Carlos Magno
Bar do MineiroYou might say Santa Teresa’s nerve center is the Largo dos Guimarães and that Bar Mineiro is its nucleus. A classic in every sense of the word, this 1922 establishment—with tiled walls, cold beer, and home-style aromas—is a bar and restaurant as well as a kind of public forum where crowds come to see and be seen. At peak times, the multitude grows so large that the street becomes an extension of the bar. Saturdays are even more packed, especially come midday, when they start dishing out their vastly celebrated feijoada options—served, as expected, as a stew but also as the filling of a fried empanada—either of which goes great with a proper caipirinha.
