The Review:
A new Autograph Collection property from Marriott, this 161-room hotel on the south bank of the Thames River is close to cultural attractions like the Tate Modern and Globe Theatre. Which makes sense because the hotel brings a serious arts focus to the table, with a white cube gallery space; commissioned pieces by London artists including portraits by Helen Gorrill, murals by Laura Carlin, and tables by Malgorzata Bany; and a partnership with local gallery Contemporary Collective for a Makers in Residence program that gives rotating artists a space to work. The program features a schedule of talks, previews, and events throughout the year for guests, other tourists, and locals.

Sleek interiors are by Dayna Lee of Powerstrip Studio, who uses her film background and midcentury design as a jumping off point for contemporary yet comfortable spaces. Rich wood furniture is the canvas for greens, grays, and tans punctuated with bold black and white geometric patterns. All rooms have remote-controlled black out blinds, fluffy robes, and a Nespresso coffee maker, ensuring ultimate comfort. Spend the morning catching up on emails in the lobby that’s dotted with cozy nooks and functional workspaces. Then swing over to stylish restaurant Art|Yard, which is filled with original art and serves an all-day menu focusing on British produce, craft cocktails and local beer. Bonus: The hotel also pays attention to sustainability, with rooftop beehives and biofuel generation.
