Play Sea Lion Peekaboo
I spotted my first sea lion moments after landing in the Galapagos on Baltra Island; this fellow was a sight more bashful than I thought he might be, but he certainly wasn't shy. The most surprising aspect of a visit to the islands is the wildlife's general ability to ignore or tolerate human visitors. This makes it difficult to remember not to encroach on their turf, especially during the first few animal encounters, but it's important to remember that even the smallest interaction can leave a lasting impression on this delicate biosphere.More Recommendations

Snorkel and Swim, Hike and Gawk
From snapping photos of red-throated frigates and lanuguinous baby boobies, or sitting next to land and marine iguanas moving about the speed of time, or squatting down to listen to giant tortoises tortelling along grassy paths towards the next guava delicacy (one already being chomped on in a jelly filled smack of a mouth) in this isolated Eden you might find a thing or two to do. we did. here and there you might figure it out. we played it by ear. we "did" the Galapagos the "wrong way" in four days in tents on Santa Cruz Island... and had a blast.
