Balandra Beach

Balandra Beach is widely considered to be among the best beaches in all of Baja, a gorgeous and secluded cove with lake-calm waters, snow-white sand and an iconic mushroom-shaped rock jutting from the water. Balandra sits about 30 minutes north of La Paz by car or boat, but an afternoon spent swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing at this blissfully undeveloped paradise, thanks to its Natural Protected Area status, feels like a world away from the urban center. There are several palapas that are free to use on this public beach, but they tend to get claimed early in the day. And while there's no restaurant, a small stand sells cold drinks and snacks.
