Bagan Old Bagan Myanmar

No photograph can ever do justice to Bagan (also called Pagan), truly one of the most breathtaking sights in Asia. Set on the banks of the Irrawaddy River in the Mandalay region, it saw thousands of temples built here between the 11th and 13th centuries as a mark of religious devotion. Watch the sunrise from the 11th-century Shwesandaw Pagoda, one of five temples visitors are allowed to climb, and explore the quiet, atmospheric chambers of the beautiful Sulamani Temple as evening falls. The fastest way to reach Bagan, about 690 kilometers (430 miles) north of Rangoon, is by taking a 1.5-hour flight.
