After the town’s clean-up of Sandy’s destruction, we were finally allowed up at the Washington Ave., Avon, beachfront. We had seen the devastation on T.V. and in the newspaper, but the scene still took my breath away. Gone was my boardwalk, and my jetty beach was diminished. This was my Summer spot. I remembered all the great days spent there just relaxing under an umbrella while reading a good book. The little restaurant on the boardwalk where we used to have breakfast was structurally damaged and condemned. The good news is that yesterday the town of Avon announced that it will soon begin to replace the boardwalk. The owner of the restaurant plans to rebuild. This is all supposed to be accomplished in time for the 2013 season. I can’t wait.
