I traveled to Turkmenistan this year and visited the capital city of Ashgabat. One of the highlights of any stay in Ashgabat is a stop at the famous Tolkuchka Bazaar. The bazaar used to be located in Ashgabat but recently moved to the outskirts of town. Occupying several acres in the desert suburbs, the Tolkuchka Bazaar is the largest open-air market in Central Asia. At the bazaar you can but almost anything, including carpets, handicrafts, silks, jewelry, household goods and food. There is even a notable camel market here. These two local women truly illustrate that you can buy anything at the bazaar!
