Located in Collingwood on the main road to Blue Mountain Village, Ashanti Café is the perfect stop for both some of the region’s best coffee and a chance to make for a better world.
Add in locally baked pastries and a relaxed ambiance with wicker chairs and neutral décor that attests to the African connections (even though the piped music is Caribbean) and you’ve got a must-do stop on your way to the slopes.
The proprietors maintain their own actual coffee-growing plantation in East Africa and import the coffee first to nearby Thornbury where they roast it themselves. Their motto is “farm to cup”—denoting the fact that it’s the only grower direct company in Canada.
