Stroll through Jordan's Best-Preserved Ottoman-Era Town
The charming town of Salt, with its creamy-colored limestone buildings climbing up the hillside, is within day-tripping distance from Amman. Nearly all the town's architecture dates from the Ottoman period, giving the town a distinctive architectural character that's a pleasure to stroll through. Visit the museum, and explore the dinky bazaar in the center of town, then wind your way up the hill through the narrow backstreets to spot grand, half-dilapidated villas and get excellent views across town.
