Artist Point

Artist Point, Wyoming 82190, USA

This was my absolute favorite place in Yellowstone. Sorry to say, this photo definitely doesn’t capture the scale or the splendor or the rich color of this spot. I’m not sure any photo ever could. You’ll just have to witness it for yourself. I wish I ‘d been able to make it back at sunrise or sunset, to see it in a different light, and to escape the crowd. It was dubbed Artist Point in 1883 when someone mistook this for the spot from which Thomas Moran painted his “The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone 1872". Moran actually painted that from the North Rim, but the name stuck.

Awe inspiring, breath taking view! The rushing sound of the waterfall is so refreshing and relaxing as it flows down the v shape canyon surrounded by magnificent colorful rocks in shades of copper and orange. Truly an artist inspiration.
