Somethin' Out of Nothin'
Formerly the Beaumont Art Museum, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas is home to a noteworthy permanent collection and while regularly hosting some of the most interesting touring exhibitions. Opened in 1950, the permanent collection of approximately 1,000 pieces now includes modern and contemporary American art with a special focus on Texan artists, like the Houston
painter Arthur Turner whose work Damita Sunset is seen here. Contemporary paintings, prints, sculpture, and folk art are all represented--along with some earlier 19th- and 20th-century works.
