In a city that cherishes its cafe culture, Aro Cafe is a stand-out. Not only does it sit in the hippy-chic Aro Valley neighborhood, complete with vintage VW vans parked along the street, but the long blacks (essentially a denser Americano) and flat whites (a stronger version of a latte) are absolutely delicious. It's a lovely place for brunch as well, especially if you can snag a sidewalk table on a nice day, or a window seat on one of those cold, windy Wellington days.
